Step 1: Exfoliate and Moisturize Your Lips
Start with a clean canvas. Gently exfoliate your lips with a soft toothbrush or a sugar scrub to remove any dry, flaky skin. Follow with a thin layer of lip balm — but blot it off before applying any product. Residual moisture will prevent your lipstick from adhering properly and is one of the top causes of feathering.
Step 2: Apply Lip Primer or Concealer
This step is non-negotiable if you want your lip color to last. Apply a thin layer of our Plump & Prime Lip Primer all over your lips and slightly beyond the lip line. If you don't have a lip primer, a dab of full-coverage concealer works beautifully. This creates a smooth, matte base that grips the pigment and prevents bleeding.
Step 3: Line Your Lips — and Go Slightly Outside
Choose a lip liner that matches your liquid lipstick shade as closely as possible. Line your lips following your natural lip shape, then fill in the entire lip with the liner. For extra precision, trace just outside your natural lip line — this also creates the illusion of fuller lips.
Step 4: Apply Liquid Lipstick with a Brush

Step 6: Set with Translucent Powder
Hold a single-ply tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent setting powder through it. This mattifies the finish and locks everything in place. Your liquid lipstick will now last through meals, drinks, and hours of wear without feathering.

If your liquid lipstick starts to feel dry or tight mid-day, resist the urge to lick your lips — this breaks down the formula and causes feathering. Instead, press your lips together gently and reapply a thin layer on top.
